After the Silence – Part 1

First and foremost, this must be said:

Thank you.

Thank you to all of you who have stayed with us as The Reign is Over ballooned to 15 parts.  It’s going to keep going, but there’s no reason for us to lose newer readers by dumping them in fifteen parts deep.  So, we are breaking the posts in two and are firing up a new story for everyone to enjoy.  Hopefully that will quell a lot of the “HALP I’M LOST” that we’ve been getting with the story stretching out as long as it has.

From all of us here at The Quill, from the depths of our soul and the bottom of our hearts: Thank you.

SO!  This new story is going to have a much lighter tone than The Reign is Over, and I’m going to do my best to write it as a comedy.  I don’t have a wealth of experience with the genre, so I’m excited to see how this first foray goes.  Regardless, it will be much needed practice as my submission to the Baen Books short story contest will be a humorous fantasy epic.  I need all the help for that one I can get, so once more I’m co-opting this space to perform double duty.  As is tradition.  I’d be upset, but that implies this wasn’t the initial idea for the site… and that I haven’t been using it for that express purpose this whole time… and that none of you haven’t been told this a dozen times over.

It’s good to know that I need not worry about success ever changing me from who I am and what I intend to do with my life.  I don’t know that the darkest, most powerful eldritch horror could do that, let alone something as trivial as money and fame.  Winning?

STORY TIME! (I don’t do transitions)

After the Silence

This story has been an absolute joy to write.  I’ve had so many dreams and aspirations for how I wanted this story to go.  It never ended up where I had planned, but it always gave me something new.  I regret nothing about having written it, and as such I am proud to move it on to it’s next home.

Should the next few months play out poorly, I shall instead be releasing the story on my own platforms instead.  Regardless of how this plays out, I’m proud for all the work that I’ve done over the last two months shepherding the story to this point.

All my love to all of you.
